Christmas Poem By: Andy Riner

'Twas the morning of Christmas and all throughout the land, not a creature was stirring-not even a man.The children were still asleep in their beds, but soon they would waken with joy in their heads. Finally it's Christmas. They run to the tree. What a beautiful sight all the presents they see. With shouts of joy they open their gifts. "Thank you Santa!" they yell like a song; but suddenly deep within my heart I felt something was wrong. I begin to remember, this cannot be right, for long ago on a cold winter's night, a savior was born. He did not come wearing fancy red clothes. He came as a child. Of this, we do know. The angels, they sang. What a marvelous sight. For unto us a savior was born this very night. He came to save us from a dark world of sin. We need only believe and receive him within. As God touched my heart I felt a moment of shame. You see, my children were praising, but in the wrong name. So I picked up a book and said, "Children sit down."
It wasn't about Santa or reindeer or such. It was a story of salvation they needed so much. So as I read from this book my children started to see. It was JESUS they should have been thanking when they ran to that tree. For it was a tree he hung upon when he suffered and died for you and me.

Merry Christmas and God Bless You All.
